    I will keep doing what I have been doing which is create original content with natural links and won't trying too hard to get backlinks.

    But to succeed in that way ... you must offer something really unique everytime that goes viral over the net getting you natural links.

    A key thing to remember is backlinks aren't the only thing you need for good SEO.

    Good content that is related to your keywords is equally important and if you are using Google analytics on your site it is even more important.

    By using Google analytics you are providing Google with another variable to rank your site with, it is the bounce rate. If you have a high bounce rate then your rankings will go down. Good content stops high bounce rates.

    Getting rid of Google analytics and Webmaster tools can help if you have a lot of problems with your site but not entirely because Google can still track bounce rates of click from the search engine and then back to the search page. And if anyone doing the clicking is logged into Gmail at the time they can track much more data.

    Remember the purpose of SEO isn't just to get people to your site it is to get them to do something on your site, read it, buy something, click an ad, etc.
