I have seen many reports and experiments about nofollow links. Some of them say it does work but some of them say it doesn't.
I think it *probably* does work. What' your observation about this?

I believe that nofollow links do work ...
Here is the small test that my friend did building only nofollow links !!
http://www.bloggingjunction.com/no-follow-is-important/
Every site should have a mix between nofollow and dofollow.
I think, nofollow links do work. A link is a link ! It may be that google rated the links different, but you have a backlink and you can get traffic with your link.
I also notice that no follow links also useful for website traffics and back links.
This is a discussion which is going on and on for such a long time. I did enough experiments and what i learned is
NO-follow links are equally good for SERP improvement
DO-follow links are necessary for PR improvement
I had managed to rank low to medium competition keywords just using no follow links as part of my tests. But if you really are looking for a PR improvement (for selling etc) then should go for high PR do-follow links
Hope this clarifies ..
These Google seems look at where the link come from rather than it's doFollow or noFollow when it comes to SERP. It would be great if you get nofollow links from top authority sites in your niche. Also this dofollow nofollow thing is in Google.
No follow links are also useful. Try to get both mixture of nofollow and dofollow.
I don't use nofollow often. I let my content as use as it. Even from autoblog or source my own sites.
Dofollow tells spiders to ignore the backlink (as if it does not exist). Since backlinks are the "fuel" that push search engine rankings you won't get any real value with dofollow backlinks, they'll be ignored. Get backlinks without nofollow tag!

I agree with everyone saying you need a mix of both. Would seem pretty odd to the search engines if you had only Do-follow. Also if you are linking in high traffic areas even those no-follow links can pay off with worthwhile traffic themselves.
No-follow links are only useful for increasing website traffic only when a visitor click on the following link. But do-follow links are more important for a website in order to achieve higher ranking in search engine results.
no follow works mostly for 3 causes which made them different from others ..
1st) getting referral traffic from popular websites ..
2nd) for natural backlink generation
3rd) for pr purpose also it is useful .. !!
