Any involvement by Google in a Yahoo acquisition would likely draw antitrust scrutiny from regulators, because of both companies' shares in the Internet search business.

The report came as investors have recently driven up Yahoo's stock price, betting that the company will sell itself, either in whole or in part.

Closing Friday at $16.12 apiece, the shares have gained nearly 25 percent since Sept. 6, when CEO Carol Bartz was fired.

The regulatory hurdle would be huge if Google is involved in any substantial way. In my opinion, Yahoo made a strategic error when they declined Microsoft's offer. Then CEO Carol Bartz was not able to deliver the hoped for rejuvenation of Yahoo and has been replaced. The landscape of the Internet is changing and that has proved a challenge for many of the old Internet companies to remain relevant.

ohh sorry, recently i don't read news a lot, i only heard last time about google bought the motorola, but intention to buy yahoo kind of shock to me

f you're doing affiliate marketing be advised that Google has had a hate session going against affiliate marketing for about 3 months with thousands of affiliate sites being closed down - many of them being sites from some of the top,best known and highly ethical marketers.

I guess this is some great news for the internet world. Finally, something that is a bit more feature rich. The only question is, can a search engine dominate all verticals. Microsoft was smart to pick up Farecast., but I am wondering why Yaho closed out Farechase. If I was Google, I would buy up some smaller vertical search engines and test something similar to Bing.

I like google as my search engine.

Astonishes. I want to hear some more thoughts as this is very strange thing that Google has had a hate session against affiliate marketing. I am not in affiliate marketing till now so if this is true, then you may say that this is the end of Clickbank ?

Google and Google only Google.

Google is Best ever Search Engine, and honestly i trust on them.

Google is dominating the search engine battle since its inception. Yahoo is great too but it has some management problems and can't keep up with G. So Google is definitely a good choice.

why are you saying peoples like Google against Yahoo. Almost above 50% person peoples use Yahoo messenger and like using yahoo messenger against google talk. some services Google's best like searching

Of course Google is the best search engine,instead of yahoo.From my point of view Google always give accurate and quick search results.Google is the best at all.

Remember Yahoo's search engine is now Bing since they entered into a partnership a while back for searches. So now it is only a comparison of Google vs Bing even when on Yahoo's searches. Bing is slowly chipping away at Google's large lead but still has a long ways to go. I personally like Google for searches, just an old habit like many here.

Interesting to hear that Google would be exploring a way to acquire Yahoo. I think that either Facebook or Microsoft would probably jump in there if Google tried to proceed further. Microsoft would hate to see it's Bing partnership be removed from Yahoo and I'm only assuming that Facebook would just look for another area to leverage its Social Marketing even though they are already working with Bing in their search results.

Some of you may have other opinions and it would be nice to hear!

For me, the best way to find information is Google because it will give all the necessary information and services you needed.

I like google aside from its popularity, whenever i search for something, google gives me a detailed number of websites to chooose from. yahoo on the other side is more general and searches are from related keywords you type.

i like google, and focus SERPs in google, but get a good SERP positions in yahoo also good. more and more traffic that will be get.

i use to optmized yahoo 3 years ago.. but since google is the most popular now, i optimized it too. so far, google is eay to promote.

I like the Google in terms of the creativeness.

Google is the best. I have one website ranked well on Yahoo and Bing for my targeted keyword but the traffic is very low. Just after when it’s ranked well on Google, I found significance traffic increase to my website. This is proving that Google should be the first priority.
