Thumbs down Am I the only one thinking this ?

This morning, I clicked on an Ad: which brought me to this site Frank & Oak | Stylish Threads For Men
I rarely click on Ads. Today I did and I immediately close the page after 10 seconds even I saw it's a Highly ranked website! Why is it frustrating? Just click on the link I gave above.
That's the most annoying think a Website could have, A popup window box which wouldn't disappear so that I can browse the website without being forced to subscribe! I mean, I haven't seen what the website is about that I'm forced to Register or Login with my Facebook account?

Maybe I'm just being the only one thinking that's an aggressive way for companies to grow their social audience.

Let me know what you think about this method.

If I wasn't ahead of you clicking out I would have been right behind you! I also close Ad.fly sites immediately. I have no need of a site that is going to be rude to me.

I see this all the time, even on Facebook. Companies won't let you see their page until you've subscribed or registered to their site. Maybe its also to help grow their mailing list at the same time, but Red bull tried something similar on Facebook, and I'm sure they got a lot of likes on their page, but 'tis a popular brand the world over, so even though its not as aggressive, I can understand why they did it.

I've never heard of this company, and for them to be that aggressive for any reason is not the way to go IMHO. You need to build your rep and brand a heck of a lot before doing something as extreme as this.

I am also among those who don't believe in aggressive marketing. I would also follow your path as well.

I don't like it too, I really don't support such sites and I tend to never come back.
Also I don't like sites with various popups and slides, it is such annoying thing.
We will never have this type of advertising here, that's for sure

What is wrong with you ??

This is a great way to increase the social audience for your site aggresively.
But it all depends on what is your site is all about.
The content of your site should compel users to visit your site again.
    No need to worry.

^ It does not even make sense.

And OP, why would you put the link to that site there with anchor text to them just like blatant advertising?

Anyway, from my point of view, aggressive ads is annoying and certainly you would not want to come back to a website like that ever again.

The forum software pulls the page title and uses it for anchor text if you type a complete, well formed URL into a post.

Well, I'm not related in any way to this website as said before. I'm just making an analysis statement. If you think I'm using this Forum to blast random content, that is not the case. Because any aniways the linked Brand is a popular one. It's like you were telling me if I've given a link to Coca-Cola, that I was doing their advertising. Lol

As the moderators agreed, it's a very Agressive marketing way to grow their audience. We (the Imtalk community) don't like this form of advertising. And if anyone who's reading this post consider doing the same thing as those popular brands, think twice. I bet the Bounce Rate will only increase, and for small website, this could be a very big slap in the face!

Now, do whatever you think is right. But always ask yourself "Would my website users like this feature".

Yes that is annoying since there's no way to close it down, basically either login or exit since no one will join without knowing wtf they're joining... in most cases.

It's irritating actually...I don't know why a website which are dealing in online store is using such kinds of aggressive way.

They may want to increase social egagement, but literally don't care of what potential they can get from first-time visitors. This, indeed, is a wrong social media marketing strategy.
