Thread: How Squdioo pages is useful to SEO?

It seems Squidoo held up A LOT better in rankings than HubPages after the recent US Panda/Farmer update. So definitely the better place of the two to focus your energies.

They both have restrictions with keywords, it's sometimes frustrating.

They can be used for links, i dont like them anymore and dont use them anymore

Squidoo seems to has lot more restrictions than HubPages. I still use those as 3 llevel sites to the main site.

Squidoo does have many restrictions, but it is because of those restrictions that it survived Panda relatively unscathed.

I make a regular amount of income every month from Squidoo. I then use that income to pay for other ventures, etc.

Squidoo can be a good backlink and direct some traffic, but it requires more HTML familiarity than most people possess, in order to make it look more than plain.

However, I have noticed that Squidoo passes Page Rank better. Why, I'm not sure. Perhaps Squidoo's internal linking structure is better. Maybe Google likes Squidoo more. But either way, I have many Squidoo lenses (pages) that are PR3, 4, and maybe even a 5.

if we compare squidoo and hubpages, definitely squidoo is good. I didn't use hubpages, but I heard, even they don't allow dofollow links until a user reach some level

The subject of one of my lenses was how to use a WYSIWYG html editor to format your Squidoo lenses. I tried to put a similar page for WP blogs but it was flagged by their system as spam. Then about a week later I received notice that the other lense had been flagged as spam. That is when I deleted my Squidoo account. (They linked to their Squidon't page and TOS, but I could find nothing in either or the pages linked to from those pages that seemed to apply to my lenses.)

That's too bad. It would be cool if you returned, as people with HTML/CSS talent usually are very welcome.

I suspect it was a poorly written algorithm, but when they said that I could put it in for review and they might get around to it in about 30 days I decided they needed me more than I needed them. The lens only got two or three visits a week, but nearly all of them were from search engines so I was bringing that small traffic on to the site. I had cross linked to other lenses with html tips. I spent some time in the forum. I saw next to no internal traffic. I had about 39 cents in my account for them to donate to their favorite charity. I had hit the review button when the first (new) site was flagged after spending about two hours looking over their links that they said should show the reason that the lens was flagged. Then when the other lens was flagged referencing the same links for more information I threw in the towel.

I had two other lenses and the new one would have been my forth. One of those lenses was really completely useless, but it seemed to pass with flying colors. The other one had some good and interesting information and I did get occasional traffic to my site from that lens. The html/css tips pages did not even promote my sites in any way. The only way I would have seen any traffic from those pages would have been if someone were interested enough to check my profile and follow a link from there.

If I was still there, and those kind of helpful lenses were allowed, I would probably have one about how to use the editor to format ebay pages as there have been at least three people that I have helped on the web editor forum that had questions about formatting ebay pages within the past couple of months.

Even Squidoo has control freaks and also there are competitors who would do anything to get their lens at top. I made few lenses years back but couldn't find how to put html links at that time. It took ma a while to get things going there.

Squidoo has changed everything in the last 2 weeks. and is much more difficult to rank, traffic is down from Google and for the summer months in the US, and almost all internal traffic is gone.
