I read the post as well and the news is that Google is trying to get better at what they have been doing for years. As technology improves their capabilities expand so that they can do more in less time.

I don't think that Google has a problem with syndicated content or even scraped content. They are really more interested in the presentation of the content than the content itself. If you use syndicated content and add value either by comment/analysis or by aggregating diverse posts/articles on a topic presenting all sides to the story and your visitors find your site useful I really don't think that Google would have a problem with that. The sites that got hit hardest had too much low quality content and/or to much advertizing (to the point that it interfered with the user experience).

I think Google is just trying to scare people here. After all there's hundreds of top listed sites that are just copy and paste stuff. Search a blog and many on the first page are not updated for a year or so. I think Google has plans to make the internet better (or in its own grip) but for now Google is just starting. Sometimes I come across a site that deserves better rankings but Google doesn't think so.

Google penalties have been around for a long time and are not anything new; however the Google Panda penalty is one of the most wide reaching penalties Google has rolled out in a while.

Me also... sometimes i feel that (certain) webpage doesn't deserve to be top of SERP page. Lots of ads, low quality content, copied content from many sources........ BUT, Google just shut its eyes and just give priority to that page

I got a drop of 7-8 places for 2 keywords, fresh unique content frequently, follow panda/google guides and still a drop? I stopped using Adwords so are people being penalised for this?

there are a lot of factors need to be considered when talking about ranking position, the most important thing is the competition, maybe your competitors have more quality backlink than you

I have now started re-building my quality links, of course I wouldn't utilise the yahoo site explorer trick and see where they have quality backlinks and drop them there too...........

I managed to sort this conundrum, built a few new backlinks with different keywords, got google +1's from plused.net and removed my high obl links page, problem sorted, now even on page 1 for one of the most competitive keywords on the net

I dropped a few spots for many of my longer tail keywords on about half my sites. Hard to figure why. Doesn't seem like a penalty, just a shift. The weird thing is a couple of my sites increased in traffic but they were built very similarly to the ones that dropped. I'm not sweating it, just keep on keepin on.

Keep your sites clear of any data given to Google. First Remove Google Analytics that is the biggest threat to your site. It gives bounce rates, time spent on site and content information and you link building activity. These tools are free for a reason. Would you take free candy from strangers ?

Alternatives to GA= Piwick.com and Statcounter.com both free and they wont kill your site either :-)

This forum wont allow me to post links but there are videos on panda on Youtube search for Franklyn Bay and Panda.
Its no longer link building alone. Its now SOCIAL MEDIA + USER METRICS= RANKINGS If you dont have Social media presence you are screwed by this Panda. Get your site a Twitter and Facebook page and add followers and likes ASAP

Panda is not about quality links anymore. Its SOCIAL MEDIA + USER METRICS ( bounce rate, time spent, pageviews, unique visitors, etc). Those site having lack of these are punished the hardest.
I can't post link or I would have posted a Youtube video which you can see. ( Why no links BTW ? )
