Thread: Google +1 force index your site?

I think that Google +1 can potentially make Google index your site.

I was looking in Google Webmaster tools, and I found a new "+1 Metrics" section. I did a little e reading and found this interesting Q&A:

"How often will Google crawl my +1'd pages?
+1 is a public action, so you should add the button only to public, crawlable pages on your site. Once you add the button, Google may crawl or recrawl the page, and store the page title and other content, in response to a +1 button impression or click."

Does this mean that all we have to do is +1 a page to get it indexed? We will have to put that to the test. Has anyone experimented with this? What are your thoughts?

Crawled and indexed pages are two different pairs of socks.

True, but one leads to the other. At this point, I am just speculating. The statement is far from conclusive. "Google MAY crawl," is not very definitive. I just found it interesting and wanted to see if anyone knew more info about this. Who knows, it may be a hypothesis worth testing.

I surly doubt that adding +1 and/or clicking that +1 on your pages will make google index them.
Google indexing process is more complex than that, you might look up about its algorithm ...

This is the same indexing myth as putting adsense on your site or analytics or like clicking like or dislike smiley in google's toolbar, etc, etc...

That is a good point. You are probably right.

All +1 does is recommend a search result to a friend within your network.

can it be a scale for SERP's too ? means how many people like your site will help it to stay on TOP more then others ?

Google +1 button helps you in improving your search rankings, I really don't think it can help in improving your indexing speed.

if a lot of people click the +1 button every time they find useful for keyword they are searching, it might effect a ranking too, i don't know this kind of rumor is right or wrong

It is going to be a while before we see +1 actually helping improve SERP. For starters in is a brand new feature and after public failures of their social media platform Buzz they will want to see how it performs and how we react to it. Changing their algorithms to include this now doesn't make sense and could cause long term damage to Google indexes particularly for a system that is very easily manipulated. There are already sites like YouLikeHits.com which are allowing people to artificially increase their Google +1 clicks and it won't be long before there are quite a few more services to to the same thing. If it does take off the way that they hope I am certain they will rewrite their algorithms to include +1 benefits in SERP but it is yet to be seen how much of a role it will play for SEO purposes.

I agree with most who say the +1 does not have an effect on how fast the site is index. I built two sites the same day, one has the Google +1 added. Both were indexed the very next day.

is there any big advantage if google re-crawl the site again and again ?

Lets wait for another 2 or 3 month and see whether the rumors of Google +1 influence the ranking or not, or the features just can be integrated with their brand new social network

Google +1 only effects people in your Google contact network. It is just like Bings system. It is to just suggest a listing to a friend.

It depends on how often you uopdate your site as to whether or not it is beneficial for Google to recrawl often..

Yes, if crawler is visiting your site frequently, it will index your fresh content and rank your website for the same.
Since Google loves to highlight fresh content, there are huge chances that this will improve your SERP rankings (if and only if you have fresh content)

What are you talking about? It is already here. =) Look at your Google webmaster tools. It already has a "+1 Metrics" menu. The menu already includes three links, "Search impact," "Activity," and "Audience." These three screens already have graphs and data. Mine doesn't say much because I am the only one that has +1 my site, so I don't know how it has affected my site.

The question is not, "when it is coming." It is already here. The question is "how will this affect us?"
