can i get great traffic if i register domain similar to huge website ?


for ex: miniclip.com
well no miniclip, because i know its a company

for example: addicttinggames.com

can i buy addictinggameswhichilove.com ?

etc. etc.

if i buy some similar domain , legally ?
can i get great traffic for the domain/website ?

Traffic will be there as long as you're up on the rankings.. Not too sure about "great" though. Personally, I don't think registering something similar to that will be a good idea as imo, most would just go back to the primary website which in one of your examples, would be "addictinggames"

One cannot just get traffic if he can get a great domain.

U should provide something valuable to the customers if you want them to come back again. Your friends might love ur website, ur wife/gf might be crazy over it but if U need ppl to come to your website U wanna promote it.
Hire ppl to do seo, or spend some money on PPC if you are into affiliate products.

It is good have a great a good site but it is not enough to make a good traffic you should have to make it user friendly too also do work on off page

Well unique things are always be unique, and the popular sites are popular for their content and quality of content they provide to their users. Its not the part of success of url but some in case for using key phrases in url's which is bit popular amongst searchers.

off course you can get some little bit of traffic for example rapidshare.com if you register a name similar to this like freerapidshare.com then you can surely drive some traffic. but this domian is already registered and parked

Well, you can get traffic, but not huge, maybe a little, I guess. If you want to get huge traffic, you need to do SEO for your websites. And try to rank many targeted keywords on SERPs.

Now a days lots of ways for generating traffic. If you want to generate online traffic than many ways available for example get more traffic then work with Social networking sites such as twitter, face book,My space,Google plus etc.Then Social book marking submission for your sites , forums posting with signature, Directory posting,Promote Your Video, Images, and Audio Content, Classifieds for your site and banner marketing, Social Media Community are also nice terms for generating Traffic.

Good ideas, but it doesn't really answer the op's question. They are asking about traffic from registering domains similar to successful domains on the net.

it depend on how you optimize the page.. for example, if you have facebook123.com domain name and you want to grab some traffic for the popularity of the website, the probabilities is too small for your website to index with the facebook.com on 1st page or second page (just an example)
about buying similar domain name i can't give details answer... maybe other old member here can tell details about it.. because sometimes i saw domain name with similar 'product phrase' get higher ranking also
