Your best SEO advice for great rankings?

What would be best SEO advice that you can give somone based on your experience?

    I can say this:
You must lay some ON Page SEO foundation before you move to Off Page SEO, because then you will need less Off Page SEO effort in order to get some good rankings.

    So, let see needed foundations:
    Keyword Research
    Original content
    Title tag
    Link/site structure
    LSI Keywords
    H tags
    IMG tags
    Anchors text in links
    etc..

Then you can go for Off Page SEO like link building, but don't over do it, work every day and don't do it all in single day then 1 month nothing. Links need to appear as natural as possible.

    Some backlink building tactics:
    Article Marketing
    Blog network posting
    Blog commenting
    Directory submission
    Social Bookmarking
    Press Releases
    Link Baits
    etc...

    You can continue...

I agree with you, but if you lay some on-page foundation first, you will have to do less off-page work to achive same results as someone who didn't do any on-page SEO.

    Hi,
Content is king. But most people are puzzled over how to add content to their websites. Do a keyword research and find out what problems people face in your industry. Once you know the problems or questions people ask before a purchase, use those as the basis for creating content. You can then upload this content, perhaps to your blog. This will ensure that you add relevant content to your website.

    My expierience is...

That you must use 2x H1 Titles on site!

H1 for your Blog Title and H1 for your Post Title... many people dont do this..

    Also I found out that...

when you got a perfect onpage optimizing then you dont need much Backlinks..

Also very Important is to have a Image inside Post with "Alt" Keyword inside..
And you must have some internal and external anchortext backlinks with the keyword inside.. nofollow or dofollow doesnt matter..

    Okay thats right...

A good seo also use status . net and ident . ca
you can add at ident some members and groups with high PR... and when you post a micro post with a link... then your post also shown on high PR Members or Group Sites.

I also saw many High PR5-7 Micro Blog Profiles at ident . ca

The best way to do SEO is to begin with great content. Whether it is video, audio, pdf file, article, press release or whatever content you are putting up on internet, make sure it is of high quality and useful for the intended viewer.

If it does not provide any value to the intended audience, it is likely to be a hard work for us to rank highly and keep ranking highly for such content. And then again, the conversion rate is likely to be poor. All hard work without sufficient gains.

If you see, most articles on ezinearticles are just plain waste of time for the readers. There is hardly any useful information in there. However smart, savvy marketers and writers will put a great deal of useful information and are likely to see huge returns without having to work too hard.

Just invest a tiny portion of the hard work you are putting in SEO and backlinking efforts, to making your content great and special. You will probably find that you don't have to work too hard at SEO ever again.

Once I started making this change in my efforts I am seeing much better results in terms of traffic and conversions. I am getting more value out of my time and efforts. Rather than just putting out some lame content targeting a particular keyword, I am now focused on providing useful value in each piece of my content. And the results have been quite pleasing.

You need to work hard either way - either at producing great content or work hard at trying to rank for mediocre content. I feel that working hard at producing great content is good strategy for long and short term. You won't need to work too much hard at SEO once you have excellent content with you.

Make this small change in your mindset and efforts and see the results yourself. Hope my advice does not fall on deaf ears.

    That would be right,

The bottom line factor is: Do people like your site/page?

Google finds that out ( how much people like your site ). A lot of people are in a rush to get to the top and start trying to take shortcuts and overlook building a Solid site foundation. In the rat race to the top some people start using tactics that will not Keep you at the top. Stuff like Article writing or other short term link building strategies are short lived.

We call it Boosting. You can hammer a site with inbound links and get noticed by Google for a short time. But if Google sees people not spending much time there in comparison to other sites competing for the same keywords... it's not going to last.

It's like a balloon. You can blow air on a balloon to keep it in the air by continuously feeding it with outside boost factors. Or you could fill the balloon with helium/hydrogen (a solid foundation ) to where it stays in the air on it's own.

Of course the site has to get noticed by Google to even have a chance... so ... if its like.... a new site.. or a new set of key words you are going after. Get your site filled as much as you can before going to outside campaign tactics ( link-building etc. )

I would say on-page eventually pays off, but off-page is probably a better starting point. Start building a little awareness offsite first, with links and what not. It can take awhile to build off-page, while on-page is fully under your control. You could do all of your on-page in a day if you really wanted, while off-site is often dependent on others, google and timing of crawlers, etc.

now a days, on page SEO is not much important except content, URLs and tittles. Most important is off page and high quality + high PR links from authority sites are the most valuable.

On page factors always important. Every single thing is important. I tested this one one of my sites using 2 pages one with fully optimized and other only with title and content with links. Both pages back linked same way and page which optimized got the better ranking for the keyword.

There few other things I can add to Nemanja's ON Page SEO foundation list. These are for the whole site rather than for a single page and are minor things but still helpful.

    A sitemap
    A contact page
    A Privacy Policy

For me On-Page SEO is a must, there are very important, medium important and less important ON-page factors,
but don't get me wrong all that ON-Page factors things are important too in a way,
because if you get it right you will need quite less backlinks for same keyword then your competitor with lousy ON-Page SEO.
Who thinks that this is not the case, then I urge you to do a split test for same keyword with two pages, one with good ON-Page SEO and another with very poor ON-Page SEO and build equal amount of backlinks to each and you will see which one will rank better

That's what I did too. Tested with 2 pages and one which was well optimized beat other page as well as most competitors who had older sites with more back links.
