Throughout my Internet Marketing career, I have seen many people try to build opt-in lists via their squeeze page, and even try get to get traffic to their blog but simply fail to so. In this post I will share with you how I use forums to my advantage to get more leads and more traffic to my site, blog and my squeeze pages. Turn off your TV and put your cellphone on silent and be prepared to absorb the following information!

Find The Right Forums

The first and easiest thing that you will need to do is go to Google and search for forums and blogs in your specific niche. An example search keyword would be your niche plus blog or forum, so if your niche is dog training, then you will search for dog training forums, and dog training blogs.
Once you find couple of forums in your niche check at the bottom of the page how many Members the forum has and I recommend to join the forums that have over 20k members, but obviously forums with over 100k will be much more valuable to you. As there are usually hundreds and sometimes thousands of forums, do not waste your time on small forums.

How Many Forums Should I Join?

Well that depends on each individual and your business model, but the more forums you join the better. For example, you should join at MINIMUM 5 forums or more and do not worry about “OH OH”, but I do not have time to post on that many forums. Don’t worry but be sure you read the entire blog post.

Check the user agreement and posting guidelines

Before you join be sure that you read the user agreement because some of them do not allow a signature on their forum or don’t allow signature links to your squeeze page, so don’t waste your time in the forums that don’t allow you to do that. We like to participate in forums, but we also want something in exchange right?



Create your profile

Now after you join every forum that you think is worth your time just go out there and create your profile. A good profile will help to establish credibility on the forum. Provide a solid description of your expertise and experience.

Provide contact information for how users can get in touch with you. It is always recommended to add as much information is allowed without sounding like your pitching someone. So if you can
add your website address and a little about what you do. Make it conversational so it doesn’t sound like a sales pitch!

Some forums have options to add your social media links like Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin so be sure you add them to your profile because you can get some followers and it will help you to grow your business.


Introduce Yourself

If you haven’t already done that then I suggest you do, almost all forums have a section to introduce yourself. Your introduction post should be about yourself, why you joined the forum and alittle bit about your expertise. Let others know that your main goal is to contribute and to learn from the community, help others and to learn from others . Do not try to say anything about your products or your website or blog that you own. This post is only about you and how you can/will contribute to the community.



Create Your Signature

The forum signature is where I have seen many of you guys make the same mistake over and over again. If you don’t have a catchy signature you will lose a lot of click-throughs to your signature link(s) and I see many of you make this mistake saying something like, Click Here For My Blog, mysite , or How to make money online Click Here etc.
Be sure you use a catch signature and make it irresistible, make them want to click on it. An example would be: Still struggling To Make Money Online? I’m Not! Click Here Find Out Why!
Highlight the text and make it a link back to your site. See what I mean? Be smart to catch their attention with a good signature.

Forum Magic Marketing

Now we are registered and lest see how we can get some new people on our list or visitors to our blog.
Find high traffic threads that get a lot of attention, provide a quality comment not ….Thank you, I like It and so on, leave a good comment and if it is something that you should add some value to the thread just do it. Better spend one day to collect quality info that you can add on the thread then give a reply, think about putting out quality as well as quantity.
Start a thread with a catchy Title and provide outstanding info. See what others ask on forums…do your research to collect data to provide quality thread info.
Start a Question and Answer thread where you can ask others what tolls they use or whatever your question is, do not be shy to learn from others. As we said in an earlier post. Its give and take. As much you give information, sometimes people also need to give information. Sharing is caring!
Answer peoples’ questions on threads, and if you don’t know the answer, Google is your friend. Do research and provide valuable answers or if the question is already on other thread provide them the link ( this questions was already answered on this thread) .
Save all questions that you answer in an excel file as there may be questions in the future, and by saving your previous response, you can answer quickly.


Give Aways

Some forums have give away sections or a section where you can share an eBook or a tool that you create, or an excel file with tons of info…..be sure the file is on your blog, do not ask them to join your squeeze page to get that. Below the file or post you can have an opt in form for them to join and get more info or more give aways. Don’t force them to join…make it natural.
A tool that you can use is List Magnet which has alot of options and can even create opt in forms for different posts or pages. If your eBook or report is a PDF, add a link inside to your squeeze page to catch them.
Trust me, this Give Away technique can bring alot of visitors to your site in a very short time.

Promote The Thread

Now I’m sure all of you use some social media and after you start a quality thread with tons of info or a Give Away thread, go on Facebook, Google +, Linkedin and Twitter and share that thread to create some BUZZ.
Bookmark your thread on Digg, Delicious, Reddit and any other bookmarking sites that you use.
Another technique is to open the same thread on many forums, this is a bit aggressive and I use this method only to share quality threads that I have started personally.
See one of my threads on Warrior Forum based on my blog post, 23 Reasons Why Not Everyone Will Make Money Online and I have till now 394 views and let’s see the same thread opened on betternetworker, the same thread but 332 views. So do you see the power of forum marketing yet?

Now lets take a look at one of my blog post People Say Its So Hard To Get Rich….Are You Kidding Me? and i posted on BetterNetworker and 985 view the thread and my signature.

How To Manage 5 Or 10 Forums?

I know you may not have time to post on all forums but one tool that I use is RoboForm. RoboForm will remember all of your passwords and it makes it very easy to go from forum to forum. So I have all my users and passwords to all social media and forums saved, now what I do is every day I just go on every forum that I am registered and click on the Button New Posts, or What’s New and now depends from forum to forum but in this way I can take a quick look at what are the new posts, and if I find something that I can answer I will do it quickly. Also, by using more forums I’m sure I can find ways to post a couple of answers every day and after you build your questions and answers database then it will be much easier to provide quick and quality answers.
If there is a question where you think you can add more value remember to spend some time to collect data to post a high quality comment and do not forget to save it to your database.
I really don’t have to spend 3-4 hours on forums using this technique. In about one hour I can give 5 or more answers or 1 quality answer and I’m done with forum marketing. See how easy it is?

I saw so many struggle with traffic and spend a lot of time on SEO....i get traffic from google without even looking at keywords and all that stuff

Good read and it seems like the way to go with it. Got a mini forum of my own on my football website not quite gave it time to grow yet because I have just left it to do it naturally but it will come in time.

Great you enjoy. I saw your site and if you improve a bit i'm sure you will get even more traffic. Ah i suggest to start capture emails from your site by giving something for free and you will make even more money because some sites will look to promote in newsletter and trust me you don't have to look for them because they will find you. You need traffic, newsletter and you will see how the sharks come to you
