8th IMTalk.org Activity Contest - $200 first prize!

Hi,

Sadly there where no winners in our last 7th IMT contest, so as I promised we will carry and add that prize to the next contest, so it is about time to start new contest :)
This 8th contest is also about activity points same as before...

Contest have new options like contests now show the current standing, email/PM winners, link to discussion thread and some more.


So here are the rules.
First member who reaches 1000 activity points in one month will be awarded by $200.
So contest is starting today 20.11.2012 and will be ending when someone reaches 1000 points or in one month from now 20.12.2012 if no one reaches that 1000 mark, but if no one reaches that 1000 mark after contest is over there will be no winners(explained more below).

You don't need to apply here for the contest all members are included on auto.
You can track current contest standing and
also once someone reaches 1000 activity points that member and results will be known here:
Activity Contest Results
winner will get auto PM notification.

If no one reaches 1000 activity points in this one month period,
we will start new contest next month, starting from the 0 activity points and prize money($200) will be carried and added from last months to the new contest, which will then result in $300 prize money for that next contest and so on...

Please note, as always only quality posts/threads, no low quality posts in order to raise post count(especially thank you type of posts) and no cheating,
if someone is caught posting low quality posts, spam or cheating in any way that member will be instantly and permanently banned from here.
Please take this seriously because we already banned few cheaters before and we can spot one from a mile.

Thanks for the new contest Nemanja! But I think the 1000 activity points is still too much to achieve in one month. At least to me. But good luck everybody! :)

Sure, but not to SPAM the forum with irrelevant information and worthless replies just for the sake of gathering the points for the contest...
We residents of the forum see it all the time when new contest is starting...bunch of new people from nowhere appear and going berserk on the forum...
once the contest is finished they are nowhere to be found...
Sure I have nothing against new members and their will to win the contest, especially ones that will stay with us after the contest,
but contests are created in the first place for regular IMT members to award their loyalty and contributions.

I already infracted and banned few members for spam, copyright and posting useless stuff on the forum...
I already asked you many times people please don't do this!
I think this contest brings all that we don't want, sure it brings some quality and conversation, but with cost of spam and useless threads,
that is why I think we will no longer have contests, I will find a way to reward people differently.
Anyhow, we will continue with this contest till the end now.

I respect your decision ....Also I think it would be better if have followed different system to reward contributed members.

Also I see it is easy to made a reply post for a new member who has just registered, because there have no any post he created on previous. So easily he/she can participate on every thread.
At the same situation for an exist IMT member who has already some post he can't get this chance because already he have made post there!

I believe that additional posts in a thread count toward the score. I doubt that I have participated in over 60 threads since the beginning of the contest. I also see what I think is a new feature on the profile activity page, a separate score for replies on started threads. As I recall that did not happen in the past so if you started a thread you got the 6 points but unless the additional replies previously just went into the replied to post column no more.

Yes exactly ... Its really nice that the new feature has separated points for posts on our own threads with the others ! With such a simple breakdown, one can keep track of his activity more easily !

I completely agree with you. As far as I see this contest (and previous ones also) is running on the power of 'Quantity' not on the basis of 'Quality'. It is very unfortunate but happening.

As far as I heard stay away from godaddy...

Of the two hosting companies that I have used HostGator is the better by a significant margin as far as speed is concerned. The other hosting is with another major provider in the States. There are a lot of horror stories about GoDaddy hosting, but I have no personal experience there. People who have a bad experience do tend to be more vocal.
