Do you want to identify the CMS used for an existing site or are you asking how to find the best CMS for a project?

Like wink0r says, do you want to identify the CMS or do you want to find the best CMS for a project?

To identify a CMS used, can be tricky. As there are plenty CMS out there, whether it’s open source, licensed, or custom built CMS.

If you want to know what kind of CMS will be the best for your project, it depends. What kind of project do you have? Is it for blogs, forums, e-commerce, or something else?

There are few confidential ways to find the cms version.
Just right click on mouse and click 'view source' then press ctrl+f to find the key words like wordpress, joomla, drupal or cms ms... then you can find.
Or you can check out the css style there you can get author information with cms version name also.
