    Long tail keywords ?

What kinda keywords you prefer to use for SEO ? and why
I prefer long tail keywords because they are less competitive and easy to get ranked. So if I use one long tail keyword for each post of my sites, I will be ranked quickly and getting visitors.
When I choose competitive keywords, sometimes it takes about month or more to come to the google first page and sometimes even not.
    What is your choice ?

In start of website optimization you always need the keywords those have less competition although these are long tail or short so move with strategy.

For my main site I use a broader keyword. For post and pages I use long tail keywords(3-5 words). Sometimes it just takes days to rank for the long tail keywords.

I prefer the long tail keywords (3 to 4 words maximum). Currently these 3 to 4 words are not considered as long tail keywords.

According to my little knowledge, if your site is enjoying good ranking on more generic and shorter keywords then it would easier to get higher ranking on the longer and more specific keywords.

I think long tail keywords are great, so I agree with you, what I would say is there is a time to use them and when they are not so good. Blogs, article writing and newsletters I believe long tail keywords are king, but for squeeze pages or static website I think broad keywords and focused work best. JMO

Long tail keywords are considered effective. For the reason that they exhibit specificity. And with such keywords, it lessen the possibility of having more competitors who have the same keywords as you have.

So what is your cutoff from a search volume prospective? Do you go after searches in the hundreds or thousands or more?

doing SEO for several longtail keywords is simple and easy. For my blog, I did seo for all long tail keywords and most of them ranks well.
