The very important thing is the quality of your content! You get only popular not by ranking high on SERPs... by posting quality Content... which is for real humans very interessting... and the benefit is that the humans maybe will come back to your site again to read new interessting stuff and informations.

And they(will) will start to post things on blogs or forums or FB or Tweeter or whatever and you will have natural links coming your way as well as visitors and social proof...
If you do things the right way, you only need "artificially" links to jump start your website/webpage SEO, then things will start coming your way.
But on the other hand if you build your content for SEs then you are stuck in perpetual loop of making content, right ON-Page SEO, backlinks, social proof, etc. non stop and as more website and webpages you have more work you have and over and over again, that is why people quit and stop doing IM and you don't want to quit, what is the point of starting in the first place then?
Remember there are no shortcuts, you need to do it the right way if you want to succeed!

Whoa, good to see a review. It will make my mind for setup review for my site.

I think you need to change a little about your color theme because it is looking boring to me. If you have some lite color theme around blog content that would be little interesting for your visitors. also I would like to say add picture when you are showing top recent post at your how page for every post.
