The content of the iframe is seldom, if ever, indexed with the page. So, not good from SEO perspective.

A good use of iFrames is placing your (banner) ads in them :-)

iframes are basically code injected in a website to display foreign content on your website... Just like Adsense, it a foreign code injected on your website and Google controls it.
iframes are not search engine friendly and it will not contribute in your rankings.

Iframes are no more used and it's much more better to not to use such for website pages as such frame pages not a good strategy for SEO perspective.

What type of content are you trying to I-Frame? Sometimes you can script the content or display the content dynamically from another website, if allowed and possible, if you give credit (a link back) to the original owner...but as the others have said I-Frames are generally not considered SEO friendly and are pretty out-dated - but are still pretty widely used.

    hi hogward,

if you use iframe then it will heart your seo ranking. this is because when you are using iframe then you are including another page within a page and if you do a view source of the page then you will find that the link is only mentioned in the iframe part.
the search engine spiders parse the webpages in a similar way so when they crawl your html they are not able to grab the content which is present in the iframe part.

and also keep in mind that google the major player in the search engine market don't like it either.

hope i have managed to explain you why search engines don't like iframe and the stuff that is not liked by search engines is also not good for seo.
