Yaa I think also both directory submission and social bookmarks have their own importance. Through directory submission you can get quality backlink and social bookmark gives you the targeted traffic to the website, and both targeted traffic and backlinks are always important for seo. So don't be choosy try to do both for your site, and dont forget that you can easily target your inner page url through social bookmark while directory submission always not supported for that.

I think also, Both are important. Through bookmark you can increase your website traffic and through directory you can develop your serp rank in google. so try to do both for your website.

In my opinion Social Bookmarking is better than Directory.

If I had to choose dir. subs. The big SB sites are great, but all the BMD type ones are here today gone tomorrow. Dirs. usually stick around longer...from my experience, at least. There are some great niche dirs. that are good for niche rich link juicing, others offer deep-linking as well.

Directory submissions are better for SEO because it is a permanent link

dont compare what is good and what not according to me both are good as both will increase the traffic to your website.

In current trends, I would suggest to go with Social Bookmarking as the reason Google has become smarter now so instead getting link from directory sites it would be fruitful to go with social bookmarking of course SB increases website as well as helping had to gain quality backlinks.

I think the mix of both is the key. Best directory is Dmoz... But is hard to get in 2 of my 3 mainpages are in the directory. The best german directories I alse added. I will look now for some international ones. The Social Bookmarking is very effective I think. I made some with IMT on my main page and within 1 week I saw better results on Serps...

For me also social bookmarking is the most effective. You need to know how to attract your visitors
