For seo, which one is better?social bookmark or directories submission?
For seo, which one is better?social bookmark or directories submission?
Hi Movies,
I know this isn't the answer you want but it depends. Listing in DMOZ is more valuable than any social bookmark, where some social bookmarks are more valuable than crap directories. It just depends on the site. A diverse link profile is best for SEO though.
directory submission of course... you can make some quality backlinks with that!
I'd say directory submission, except that bookmarks WILL actually go live as soon as you post them. Majority of directories will never accept your link or it will be years before they get around to processing your submission.

It's a toss up. Directory submission for "link juice" but social bookmarks for faster traffic. Which are you looking for?
Directory submission is better for SEO but social bookmarking is usually used as a source for direct traffic rather than SEO
Both are effective from SEO point of view. You should go for social bookmarking as well as directory submission to get maximum benefits.
Social bookmarking is one of the effective ways of getting your backlinks indexed fast.
Social bookmarking exposes your content across a wide audience and brings you more traffic.
-Submit your content to social bookmarking sites (Digg, StumbleUpon)
-Submit your content to niche social bookmarking sites like sphinn (cater to target audience)
-Make your content shareable by including social bookmarking buttons in your blog.
And for directory submission you can opt for Yahoo directories or DMOZ which will probably help you in getting Google rankings. Yahoo is a paid directory while getting listed in DMOZ can be extremely difficult.... but worthwhile because being listed in DMOZ can get you significant links to your website which in turn will increase your ranking.

Both directory and social bookmarking has its own advantages. By submitting to niche directories and good traffic social bookmarking sites helps to improve the PR and search engine ranking.
Both Directory Submissions and Social Bookmarking are useful and better. They have different ways of giving you benefits. Social bookmarking is best way to create traffic and gets your pages indexed fairly fast. Directory Submissions is really only useful for getting a page indexed as Google has devalued these types of links.
Forget DMOZ...
Nothing seems to get added to their directory anyway in the last year or 2.
Many have tried...but never got in.
Social bookmarking can be very effective for listing and ranking...just not ALL social networks are as effective.

Both have their own importance in seo.
Directory submission is done for back links.
But by social bookmarking, you will get quick indexing, high traffic and quality back links.
So, social bookmarking is good enough.
Both are good if you use only high quality sites.

why do not use both to get a much better effort.
both of them are very effective.
try both,
good luck
Directory submission and Social Bookmarking both are the off-page optimization steps..when compared to social bookmarking,Directory submission is the best feature for improving the page rank to our web site..
Hi,
Both are try to do both activities on specific sites with good pr
Thanks
For me directory submission..because it gives your website a page rank..
Directories submition for the long term effect. Bookmarks will bring in faster traffic but directories will have your link placed for a longer time. That would be more beneficial I think to have your link available for a long time.
I think both are good depends on your link quality. Link quality is important.
Directory is good for submitting homepage links.. Not much directory support for deep link submission.. but for social bookmark you can send whatever link whether homepage or deep link
