Yes it counts. Some domain hosting registrars are really good in view of Google. Thats why I always prefer namecheap.com to buy domains. For hosting, you must go with such host which at least provides you 99.9% uptime and less than 3 Sec page loading time.
do you think namecheap is better than go daddy, if yes why?
I think registration has something to do with age of the domain name rather than domain registrar. Also It can see how the domain's been up and running and how many times name servers has change (stable uptime) .
so Google will look into how stable the server and also the performance of hosting, if always down, means it will effect the ranking am i right
