Even though this question had been ask 9 months ago, and no one had asnwer this question, i still yet don't understand till now how pagerank is determined by google, i hope someone can give answer based on their experienced
actually as I know quality is the most important, to get a high PR, need
- pages with quality content
- back links from high quality + high PR sites >> main
EG- 3 or 4 PR8 links can make your site a PR6, so you understand most important is quality.
page rank is determined by a semi complex formula that you can find by looking it up in Google.
however my advice would be for you to immediately cease any further knowledge about PR because it is basically a waste of your time. I know it's hard to ignore because when you look at that number and see a nice PR 3-4 or higher it makes you feel like you're getting somewhere.
but the only number that really counts is your position in the search engine results. PR is a major distraction and there's not much you can really do about it anyway. I mean there's things you can do to raise her PR but it's far more important to concentrate on factors that will boost your search engine ranking.
everyone has seen lower PR sites out rank higher PR sites depending on the keyword term.
I think any serious Seo form should band threads concerning PR because they waste so much of people's time... like my time right now in trying to help you avoid PR as a distraction

I would say it is based on so many factors it is not funny. It is based 30% on page seo 70% off page seo. For off page seo you need high pr links.
