Google has rolled out the Farmer Panda Update in English-speaking countries around the world - with some surprises. The search Metrics Suite to the English index got analysed, and you can see in the following post some loosers got slapped by the new Google Panda Update.
Google rolled out changes to its algorithm in an attempt to decrease visibility and rankings of low quality sites on 11.8% of search queries, called the Panda Update. “Low quality” is defined on search engine blogs as content that is shallow or limited, poorly written, copied, and generally not useful to users.
According to the company, Google has the algorithm, the end of February, the U.S. went online, exacerbated not just copied but further developed and continues to signals from users. It will now also the information about blocked pages are incorporated. Served in the U.S. update this information only to verify the algorithm. So differences are seen for farmer / Panda Update from seven weeks?
The losers: UGC, price comparison and a few surprises
First, we take a look at the absolute top losers, the reviewcentre.com that one has lost 90 percent visibility. Although this is a smaller percentage than some other sites - but because of the size of the page, the value of 580 608 points lost in the Organic Search Metrics Performance Index negative record. The "OPI" is calculated as the volume of a Web page hinsichlich the positions and the predictable traffic keywords:
Just take a look of some loosers pounded from the Google Panda Update:
Among the losers, especially fall on those pages, the user-generated content in addition to aggregate information mix. An example is qype.co.uk with minus 96%. The high number of price comparisons (eg with shopping.com - 74% and with dooyoo.co.uk - 95%) is striking. Most particularly controversial, however, is the high loss of ciao.co.uk.. Finally, there is close agreement between Google and Ciao relations - and yet the British side was kicked to 93% from the index ...
Another surprise in the English are losers list ehow.com (- 53%) and ehow.co.uk (- 72%). Both sides include Demand Media in the U.S. and ehow.com had in the U.S. by the update so even benefited. We can therefore assume that eHow is not such a strong community in the UK as in the U.S.. And it seems it really does not matter whether the site "sticky" in the U.S.. In the UK, eHow has lost.
Of course there are also old friends in the group of losers - like hubpages.com with minus 85% and mahalo.com with minus 81%.
Me I also hope that my SEO Blog get no slap by Google cause I made a lot of Black Hat Strategies and more. Now I have to change my strategies and try to be an White hat to take care with the panda update.
Based on this graph, we can see that:
- In 2010, this span of weeks was fairly flat – for 8 of these 10 sites, traffic fluctuated by less than 10% up or down (two sites were on a pretty steep upward trajectory).
- However, in 2011, 6 of the 10 sites increased by over 10% after the Panda Update and all of them increased at least somewhat (none dropped).
User-generated content, while sometimes only one sentence individually, aggregated together can be very powerful for an SEO campaign. Customers convert higher when they see authentic content from like-minded users, driving Google to gravitate towards pages with legitimate UGC. To get the greatest value out of UGC for SEO, inject a small amount of the most recent UGC into product pages to increase richness and freshness; however, also make sure to have a branded interactive archive that allows Google to fully index all UGC for each of your products. With the Panda Update, Google impacted 11.8% of search queries. Once again, UGC proved to be a vital asset as these sites are reaping the benefits of the algorithm change.
Conclusion: What's next?
What factors by the Farmer / Panda update actually hiked in the algorithm can not be said (yet). Google seems to be his thing but to be very safe. Because we were in the past weeks are very, very few pages that are under a heavy loss by the U.S. update re-entered in the index. And so in England the winners and losers of the Farmer / Panda Updates expect that they remain in the coming weeks and months where they are now.
