First it was Panda and then Penguin; these two updates specially brought big changes in SEO. People started complaining that SEO is not working anymore and things like that..

Still people are ranking their website in search engines including Google. So what is the exact situation now?

SEO is not dead, but it has changed over 180 degree. There are many tricks to do SEO anymore

What is SEO? It is a way of arranging websites so search engines can pick and choose.

Without SEO, search engines would choose randomly. If you went to a search engine and entered a search term and the result of your search was gibberish you would stop using search engines. But if your search engine used whatever resources it has to pick a few websites to answer your inquiry and they did a reasonably good job, you would use search engines again.

IT IS INEVITABLE that people will search on the net. And it is also inevitable that search engines will have criteria to pick and choose. As the internet changes and evolves IT IS INEVITABLE that the criteria search engines and SEO will change.

A few weeks ago the telephone company delivered paper telephone books to the lobby of my apartment building. Three weeks later almost all the telephone books are still in the lobby uncollected. How people search for telephone numbers has changed. No more dead tree books.

Search engines make a lot of money helping people search for things. If they still use old techniques while the uses of the internet and communications media change over time they will suffer the fate of dead tree phone books. Money is made by keeping up with the times -- or even being ahead of the times. That's why SEO will inevitably change.

Sure it is not dead, but one needs to know what is working these days.
I've sent you all email recently on this topic so I hope for your own good that you where smart enough to spare some pocket money and watch that great SEO video from Chris(I know I have ).
I think that it is crucial thing to stay on focus and watch for such information, if you are in the SEO business and in some way connected to the SEO and you don't know how things are working these days
or you are not sure or you just want to know more about what is going on.

There are lots of methods :P It just takes time you need to be consistent, I sometimes have felt the same way but I know its not true. Be active and socialize. Facebook is easiest way just need to brand yourself.

Oh no! you're realy worg, SEO isn't dead because a lot of website remain on top and eaven some of my website are still there and a lot of new website incrase on google rank soo SEO isn't dead.

there are also some people keep spreading the words around that link building is dead (got it from random newsletter).. which is you know.. link building is the heart of SEO.. i know that particular people want to sell their product when they said SEO and link building is dead.. the thing is... search engine want the best content so as to provide best experience to user... then of course people that hungry of ranking and selfish or spammers or want thing so fast will be put far far away by search engine

I think with the amount of websites online now its a goldmine to get if you do it right but some people don't which is why these new rules have been set. Easy once you know how type rules.
