Thread: Alexa Ranking important or not

As one of the factors to calculate alexa rank is the no. of visitors visiting your site having the alexa toolbar installed. So I don't think its that important from SEO point of view. But as everyone here says, it proves to be useful at the time of selling the site.

well in my opinion its just a tool that gives you visitors number of visit, but I do not understand some times when your website Alexa ranking drops but you are still on top in Big G and Analytics show you smooth traffic to your website, there is no humble in traffic to your website, keywords ranking on same place, getting clicks, but why Alexa rank gets down???

im my point of view, it is not that important...
The most important is google analytics. However if your site has more hits, alexa rank will increase very quickly..

According to me alexa ranking has some importance, it tells which website is popular on the internet to a certain extent. Although it is not accurate but gives you the idea. For my websites, I don't care about alexa ranking though :0

Higher your website is ranked on Alexa, the more free backlinks you get (due pages automatically listing the high ranking sites etc.). Although, those links usually aren't the highest quality.

Do I care about the Alexa ranking? No. I wouldn't buy a service that increases my ranking, or manipulate my traffic in any way.

I think yes Alexa ranking is important as PR is.

For the most part many people think that an Alexa Rank is really important. I guess that's why people enjoy getting alexa reviews? I just don't really see any particular reason to actively work on that rank unless you plan to sell a site in the near future.

Can someone perhaps shine a little light on that for me? I would love a little clarity on the issue.

All I can say is:

If Rankings also depend of Alexa.. then some of my Sites must be Rank better than my competitor with bad alexa rankings...
I can also remember that I used a tool last year which increase my alexa traffic.. with proxies etc.. the tool works but I saw no better rankings at all.

So I'ved stop running this overnight... time and power waisting...

So, if you are an amazon affiliate, Alexa would be very important to work on? What makes an amazon affiliate site different from any other site?

it is important if you rank in top 100.000 because many sites will mention about your site and get free backlinks.
