Yes. Excessive pinging can hurt your site. Over pinging can cause two things.. When you ping, your computers IP address is recorded. If you over ping or ping too many sites in the same day from the same computer your IP will wind up on a blocked list and it may look like your ping was submited but in reality your request was dumped in a spam sub file like your email does.. The other thing that can happen is that your site gets blacklisted with the same ping bots that are supposed to crawl it.. Three days between pings, if you have new content is the safest bet. Also i would reccomend rotating the ping services that you use.. Each site has a list that is slightly different than the others and this will give you the edge of adding a few new sites that crawl and index your site... Good Luck!

Ping your post, pages, articles and everything that connects to you. Worpdress does this automatically but you should use a plugin like maxblogpress ping optimizer, this stops your website from pinging too much when you are working on a post or page.

I use and highly recommend seobunny's ping software. It is the best free pinging tool I have seen.

I ping every article, every spun article, every backlink. For that I use ping-o-matic.
I don't think pinging is black hat. Pinging is just another way on notifying that your link/article is alive.

I use the mainly profile but work with other sites to. when you create your sites put them into a feed bulk ping.com

I always ping my every post. It is very profitable for website promotion. Normally ping site announces your latest content so the search engine will notice your website content.

i NEVER ping my new articles! One hour after publishing a new article, it´s already indexed by google! I Don´t know why.... but ist is so!

You can't go wrong when you ping every 24 hours. :-)

Same here, ping farm and indexkings are pretty good and most important FREE

Pinging definitely helps, just dont over-ping a page or engines will start ignoring it.

Google finds stuff eventually, i used to ping but now i dont. I tend to share anything new on twitter, facebook, stumble upon, tumblr etc. That way you get found but without being obvious about it.

Pinging helps in pushing a site for making its crawling done.
