Can one have a “landing website” that only has re-direct links on it to one’s content-rich websites without blowing out SEO, and, if possible, HOW? My understanding is that SEO/Google will “punish” a website for having almost no content, never being changed.
To our surprise we have found out that the conservative B2B businesses have folk interested in the entirely different “fun, silly” B2C businesses and vice-versa. The STRATEGIC question of “WHAT TO DO” is clear – let both sides know the other side exists, but NOT in detail on the same website (too much of a conflict, too much navigation).
The TACTICAL question is HOW to do it. Can you somehow make clear to the SEO algorithms that the static landing website for re-directing is an integral part of the other dynamic content-rich websites by using the proper domain/sub-domain linking? Or by doing something else entirely?
EXAMPLE: let us use just two hypothetical businesses “Blue Oceans” and “Blue Angels.” We do NOT want to optimize SEO for “blue.” Instead we want all “blue ocean waves, Hawaii” searches to land on the static re-direct website, and all “blue angel wings, Paris” searches to land on the same static re-direct website.
I have seen a couple of such "landing websites" (unfortunately, did not note the names). In one case on a separate website all to itself were just two links, one for B2B and one for B2C customers. The links brought you to two entirely different websites, not just in terms of content, but also for the design, layout and navigation. In the other case the "landing website" linked you to the (differently designed) websites for businesses on different continents in different languages. Thanks for any suggestions!
