Thread: Site Traffic Problem

Hi,
I want to ask that my site has a page rank of 2 and my competitors sites has a page ranks of 0 or 1 but they are getting more traffic than me. what is the reason of this? Why my site traffic is just half or less than half of them. Please tell me the reasons

PR is not concerned with the traffic of your website your with your conversion rate.
You have to improve your SERP rankings, if you are in top listings you will have high CTR and traffic.

Also, there are other sources of getting traffic like social networking websites and PPC.

Without seeing your website, I would suggest taking a look at the keywords you are optimizing your site for. You have to pick keywords that with a lot of traffic and little competition, so you can become #1 for those keywords. The more searches your high ranking keywords receive, the more traffic you will receive. Additionally, the higher your keywords rank, the more traffic you will receive.

Sorry won't mind if I ask is that Google PR rank is just for decor? Any effects on the SERP?

Yes and not. Page rank is a reference for you. The SERPs are driven by over 200 factors, and Google's algorithms to calculate them are a highly guarded trade secret. The things that make your page rank go up will also make you rank higher in the SERPs, but a high PR does not mean high ranking. Your page also has to be relevant to the keyword, etc, etc.

Need more parameters to assist you. Are you comparing unique sites or are they urls on the same platform? Where are you in the SERP's? How are you optimized? What is your CTR from SERP's per keyword? Your determination about traffic is looking at what time window? Is there enough data within this window to make an accurate assessment?

Page is not much concerned here. It is because of he will be participating in Social Media and PPC. So try to promote in social media...

It may be that your competitor has optimized some keywords which you haven't optimized........ you can get traffic from optimized keywords mainly, if your site content is good then it would also give you some traffic as well.

Many people think that having a good website is all you need to get tons of visitors. Getting traffic to your site takes hard work and diligence and is not accomplished overnight. Think about it this way - how are people supposed to know where to find your site if you don't tell them? You must advertise.

you have to be more targetted to some keywords so theat you get traffic from those keywords . pr does no matterabout traffic.

I agree. Page rank doesn't matter for traffic. You can have a high page rank but still get a low conversion rate. You need to know how to market your site well. Like what C.Rebecca said, try to get your website to the top of the SERPs in order to increase your traffic.

Well first of all google discontinued page rank, so that has nothing to do with traffic problems. Your competitior must be ranking for better keywords.

I have often seen pages with a PR of 0 outrank a PR 5 or 6. There are so many variables to this!
