Is there any disadvantage for SEO if I use shorten URLs for something ? I believe its not effecting badly for SEO, but some people say, it is.
What is the correct answer actually ? Can a shorten URL on a dofollow site get link juice ?

No, shorten URL on a dofollow site wont get link juice. I suggest you to use shorten URLs in necessary conditions. For example in twitter, because in twitter the character length is short so we are using in dat. But if u use in other sites, the shorten URL domain will get strong because they are redirecting ur domain. So googles first preference goes to that shorten URL domain. Better use ur full original domain for other sites to get link juice. Its my suggestion. Hope u will get..

No, shortening URL does not impact your SEO efforts in negative way... In fact Google itself provides a tool for shortening URLs.
URL shortening is advised to use where there is character limit.
