Thread: Blog vs CMS vs ...

What should I choose for a simple website with articles.
Everyone uses blogs nowadays (i.e. Wirdpress etc) but I'm not sure like the "newer articles first" form.
On the other hand complex CMS seams a bit too much for a small website...?
I don't know - I just want something simple and fast... That doesn't look like a blog.

I will go with the WP + some great plugins + themes.
Yes I know this is a blog, but you can make it to look like a web page, just play wit it a bit.

Can you make it so that at front page you have "last 5 articles" and in categories you have links to all articles (A to Z) with short excerpts?

Sure you can, you can do what ever you want, if there is no add-on or plug-in, then you can do it by yourself if you know how to, if you don't outsource it.

True, but the holy grail for newspapers is a CMS that outputs useful XML to a useful print layout system, automagically.

Publish your story on the Web, first, but remove all the dual-entry that goes on now to herd that same story into print.

Blogging software is a specialized CMS. WordPress is popular with many web developers because it is a CMS, not because it is blogging software.
