Thread: Blogger is Down!

Shit.. Blogger is down. I got error when I open Blogger.com

Here is what they say,

"We are very sorry that users are unable to publish to Blogger right now. We have rolled back the maintenance release from last night and as a result, posts and comments from all users made after 7:37 am PDT on May 11, 2011 have been removed. Again, we apologize that this happened and our engineers are working hard to return Blogger to normal and restore your posts and comments. We will post a report once this work is complete.

-The Blogger Team"

All posts made on May 13 were removed But I hope they'll restore my posts soon..

Yeah can't login. There is a message saying " Blogger is currently unavailable "

Well I hope only posts and comments of last 24 hours will be lost. I haven't backup by blogspot blogs for several days now.

If they don't restore the last post of 24 hours then I'll loose $200. I posted some paid reviews in my blog

But its saying page not found right now...

And that is why I hate using WEB 2.0 properties for doing business or for anything that is remotely serious...

I read the recent tweet from Blogger: "To get Blogger back to normal all posts since 7:37am PT on Wed 5/11 have been temp removed. We expect everything to be back to normal soon"

If they removed those only temporary thing you will be fine. Didn't you take a backup after making those posts ?

No. How should I know if Blogger will do this stupid thing.

well Blogger to plenty of stupid things. Like letting their automated spam detect tool to delete blogs. So it's always better be ready when we don't have any control over this kind of site. Specially when you have big site which earns you money.

yea, but blogspot blogs working, so I think not a big problem for bloggers who almost have blogs

Its time to change to wordpress...

Cant understand why anyone is using blogger either...

Why lot of people use blogger blogs ? because most of them don't want to pay for hosting and domain

so for this kinda people, go to wordpress hosted blog instead of blogger will be a nightmare for sure.

Same thing and problems as with blogger blogs or any kind of WEB 2.0 property ...
With one move from owners you can lose all you pages/traffic/content/business
The only way to go is with your own domain and preferably non free hosting.

If you are new to this whole earning online thing and doesn't want to spend money or don't have money to spend then Blogger is a good place to start. Also can use it to make mini sites to get traffic for your main site.

That's why people use it.

I wonder, when I asked for suggestion for which CMS should I use. I'm just perplexed how easily the topic turned around from Blogger to WordPress. Anyway, FYI, Blogger has returned with restoring all previous posts.

If you are going to move from Blogger then WP is the best and only choice you have I think. Anyway since your blog is pretty big and earning it's good idea having it in your own WP Blog.

I was talking about using blogger for your main money site of course.
Even if you're new, 1 USD for an .info domain and free hosting will be way better than a blogger blog that google might delete pretty fast.

If you have no credit card or any other method then you ll have a problem paying that 1 USD. Also not everyone confidant about earning money online when they start so some prefer to do it without spending even 1 USD. Some Just start a blog as a hobby and later thing about earning when they get serious traffic.
