Duplicate content on forums

Is duplicate content on forums are okay with google ? I think its not a big problem. Because when the forum is big, admins and mods cant check whether the threads are duplicate or not. I know one forum, there are even warez stuff and lots of duplicate content. people come at night and post warez stuff there. But still that forum is okay and very popular. What do you think ?

It can't be too much of a problem. Many admins and mods try make sure that duplicate content is kept to a minimum, but I think it's more because of disk usage and space concerns. About the warez? I'm not really sure that's a good idea at all. the mods and admins on that forum might want to take a closer look. If its a big forum, then I can understand why these could be missed, but then they need help from the forum community whenever these people post warez. Seriously, the forum owners can get into serious trouble.

All post will get automatically a good ranking...
but if there any post which have content from other sites (duplicate content) the ranking will not good after the first crawl..

In my experience not that much if that forum is trusted forum and with minimum of duplicate content.

I have also seen on a few other forums, that sometimes if you add one post to a forum, let's say IMTalk, and you add a duplicate one to another forum, it could be bad, depending on your post. I have seen people banned for doing this, and we're talking permanent bans here, not just wrist taps. Many times, I have seen that some new members don't really read the forum list about existing posts (which can take ages if the forum is a big one), but they don't search either. I mean, it will take 5 minutes to search for a query on a forum, if you can't see the answer to the problem in the search results, then you add the new post. This is where the mods and admins work the best, coz they can merge / move posts and threads etc. so they can keep it neat and tidy.

yea, thats what I was trying to tell.. some duplicate content is not a big problem for forums.

it will be bad for forum because the duplicate content is not good for any forum. because it showed bad impression to google, because google crawl every site with strict rules. A Google once stated that duplicate content never affects the original poster, in the other case, it will affect the website that copies it. Google knows which page was indexed first, and it will view that as being the original. I am not sure if it was an official or an unofficial statement.
