Which forum software do you prefer?

Which forum software do you guys prefer? I have used Vbulletin, MYBB, and PHPBB3 on forums before and I think they are all very good. Vbulletin is truly the best when it comes to features, support, mods, and skins but the cost really is high in my opinion. PHPBB3 has just as much mods and skins available but not as many features. I am really leaning towards using this in the future because it is a great script and its free. MYBB is also free and is kind of a mix of the two. It has little add ons available (or it did when I used it) but it has many more built in features.


Well thats my opinion. What do you guys think? What is your favorite?

It really depends. If funding is not a constraint I would go for VBulletin. Otherwise, I like SMF or PHPBB which are both open source scripts.

I consider vBulletin for sites with 500+ users at least, since vB for me has associations
with something solid, but heavy, so not so good for small, "startup" websites. I've used

phpBB 2/3 series numerous times, but structure of it's DB is too complex, so now sticked
to IPB on main sites & SMF on rest as freeware alternative till site grows to certain level.

For clients websites I'm suggesting IPB when it's possible by budget, no complaints so far.
Btw, one of my collegues still should have IPBoard license for sale. If needed, send a PM.

Prior to starting this forum I have this same decision to make about forum platform.
I tought about free softs like PHPBB3, MYBB and SMF, but they all don't guaranty that they will be updated and some of them have some major security issues. I think that if you are on the budget the best solution right now is MYBB.
So I looked at paid platforms and I have choosen vbulletin over IPB, mainly because I like vbulletin platforms and they have some great features built in and also great sucurity level with constant updates. Also you have great number of mods, styles, buttons, etc. at you desposal on vBulletin.org Forum , which are very easy to install and they are all free to use.
So I ended up with vbulletin which is great peace of software/script and till now I like it very much.

I like PHPBB3 as it is free and it is easily customizable but if you need more functionality and you are willing to spend some bucks, go for VB..

I prefer Vbulletin over IPB because I feel like there are more plugins and support as well as a larger community of users to develop add ons. Thats a big deal for me.

I will prefer Vbuletin. It is the best forum software and nowadays mostly people are using it. I hope that you will also get it. It is the best software. I have also used it. That's why I will say that Vbulletin is the best forum software.

if someone wants a good free software, unarguably its phpBB, huge forums like warez-bb also use phpBB
for a paid one, its vBulletin )))

Yes, just need to install and configure. Go to youtube and check for tutorials if you want to learn !!
