Forum Currency .. A dying feature ?

These days you don't see Forum Currency mod used in too many forums. 4 -5 years ago there were so many forums which used this feature. I used it in Namepros.com and dnforum.com both.

I think Namepros is the one used it for best. they has domain registration system connected to forum currency. and also the Bank was connected with Paypal so you could buy and sell currency automatically. This work great for those who could have a paypal account. There you could buy everything you need like Domains, Hosting, SEO services and designing. Also you could sell your services too.

That was nice idea, we have ours credits still, but it is not currency in full meaning of the word, but worth considering when we expand forum...

Yes it could be a good feature here too. I think namepros has problem with the system since they were resellers of eNom for domain registration. It didn't work well at end because domain prices change time to time. If this can be implemented here I think probably have more success where forum has it's own paid services.

It will attract people and create a bit micro work market.

It's like building whole Fiverr type self running service based on forum. There's a Bank where you can "buy" or "sell" forum currency. Lets say we have here a currecy called IMT$. This can be used for selling and buying services here. There can be an exchange rate like 50 IMT$ = 1 USD. Then members use it for buying services if the member willing to take. If you are new to online work and have no credit card or PP or don't want to use then you could use this. You can first earn money like giving a service like "Forum Posting" , "Bookmarking" or "Blog commenting " then use that money to buy other services like Domains "if someone offer", Hosting or other SEO services and even IMT services like Wiki and bookmarking service. also for auctioning these things and services.

Some forums use forum currency to letting members to use forum related services. Like changing userName etc.

There is a domainer forum called DNforum there the currency system used for buying and selling domains. You could sell an unwanted domain or auction it. Which would be worth less for serious domain reseller but might worth for someone new. I used to buy domains like these add simple and site and used to sell those like AdSense/Amazon ready sites another forum which had forum currency.

At namepros still they use forum currency system for few things. They have in-house PPC (more like PTC) system where you can advertise your web sites. Also still do have auctions based on forum currency.

It's a great micro economy if you implement and regulate it properly. Need strict rules and regulations. New members shouldn't let use it because usually common scam happen in system like this is they offer some service for unbelievable price and they collect money and run away. Like offer an VPS so very cheap. after like enough members pay guy take money and vanish. Rules need to be set so Forum owners can't take responsibility for everything happen.
