Do you use forums for link building, if so then how do you use?
Most of the forums may restrict those who do link building mainly using forums.
but if your postings have quality then you can do link building using forums, right?
Let me know what techniques you use for link building using forums.....
I guess most people use them in signatures.
but their are not worth much anymore, most forums adds no-follow tags to signatures.
but it must do something, cause I see people do it anyway.

you can place back links with your anchor text in the signature that you have when you start any new thread or post a reply.
it's true that many forums use the "no-follow" tag in the links but you can still benefit from it because "a link is a link that points to your website". it's kind of a vote that you get for your website.
let me revel a secret : many underestimate the power of forum marketing but it's one of the way to get traffic to your website. ;)

You must select do-follow forums to post thread in order to build a backlink. Because post a topic and reply a post is easy than blog and article submission,so forum link is popular around SEOer.
I heard from a friend that Google has listed 2 way back-links as black hat but I've not read it officially any where so is it true? Has anyone of you heard or read the same anywhere? As far as I know people are really busy in exchanging links.
In terms of search engine rankings, I suspect they don't count for much. But this is not the only benefit - you do get direct traffic to your website from them, particularly if the website is useful to the forum users and you are shown as an "expert" or moderator on the forum. Some of those people might then link to you from their blog or whatever if you have a good website, and links like those would be quite valuable.
Forum links work, and will always work. But these days, forum links doesn't get indexed naturally! You have to force through services like - Linklicious/Lindexed.
It helps a lot if its a relevant forum. A lot of people just build profiles on random websites that never even get indexed by SE's which in my opinion is useless
It depend on how you participate in the Forum... some people they just leave the backlink they put (signature and profile) and don't participate at all in forum post.. if you always participate, your thread or post can be indexed much better then leave the backlinks without doing nothing
First of all you will need an forums that allow to post links in profiles as you know you can scrape it or you can get it from various IM forums for free or some are paid as well.
You can do the profiles for your web 2.0,Social bookmarking etc on those your site is linked so it will boost those links to get them indexed and make them some authority to show that those are valuable links for the search results.

You can do the Forum profiles for your site directly too with no issue that helps also.

According to me forum links are very useful for a website. "Dofollow” forum links provides you with a modest boost in the search engine rankings. However, a good rule of thumb would be to look at the amount of effort it takes to create an inbound link to your site. Actually forum signature link is just like a business card at a networking event.

Exactly! Using forums just to build backlinks isn't effective time vs reward wise, there are easier more effective methods, but really contributing and getting targeted visitors to a site that fits the forum niche is perfect.Quote:
