yes the yahoo directory really give great boost i found this place really nice offering a lot of shares for directories.
Yes, it is worth it. We have our few sites in yahoo directory.
This works really good for SEO because I had a site that was ranking in the 80's range for a very competitive keyword (appox 50M results on Google) and after a few days of being listed with the Yahoo Directory I was in the mid teens. So I believe it is well worth the money!
Can you help me index my website in the yahoo directory please? I mean the free one ?
Hey franberries,
Yep, I was very leery of what was going to happen. But after I did it, I was really blown away. Unfortunately as I have been learning SEO, I ended having to take the site down because once I reached the first page on Google. It turned out that I was infringing on someone else's trade mark for the URL & title and got threatened with a lawsuit. It was a really expensive lesson, but I'm glad I know what to look for now!
Now I will always recommend the Yahoo Directory if you have a very competitive keyword and url title, even if it cost $299.
your explanation make me think twice about my link building budget per month and also per year,, honestly i never tried it before, so $299 per year mean around $24 per month.. that's just for one website isn't it?
talking about your lawsuit issues, how you deal with that, what issues on website that can be threatened? using someone else logo? give bad review?

Using a trademarked name or copyrighted words in a URL to the left of the TDL can bring letters from lawyers. From research, not personal experience, you don't want to buy a domain name with 'Nikon' in it as they aggressively defend their trademark. I rebranded one site because of issues, but I may not have heard the end to that yet.

Some companies are more aggressive in defending their trademarks than others, but it is not really worth the chance if you are going to put a lot of energy into the site. Better to put your information into a sub-directory (not a sub-domain) so that you would end up with something like franberriesgamerumors.com/playstation4/. That way you have the name in the URL for all pages that apply but will be much less at risk for legal problems. You could also expand the site for other sub-niches by using this convention.
