Thread: Would you alter a twitter retweet as an optimization technique?

I read about this from a forum member on one of the other forums I frequent, and it struck me as interesting. I have heard that some blog owners take spam messages and "re-purpose them", making them into decent posts that makes it seem like people are interacting on the blog.

What I read is that this member takes a tweet from one of their lists and retweets it, but alters the links etc. what do you guys think about stuff like this ? Its the first time I've heard of it.

I saw they are using some plug-in for that, but I newer used it myself so I can't comment further.

So its actually happening? Dang. I think I will see what I can find online about this as well.

I saw a plugin like this before, I forgot the name! I think it's viable as long as it's not totally garbled language, because you'd be wasting time altering it. But, also, if you can tell that it's been spun, then since you haven't published it to your blog it should be unique to some degree. I wouldn't repurposse it as a branded tweet from your site twitter account, but from other aliases,...for sure!

Hang on wait. You mean this is used by one person taking their own tweets (from another alias), and re-purposing them? I had a look around yesterday and couldn't find much, so this must be a relatively new thing (Or I was using the wrong search terms)... But if someone else took one of your tweets and changed it for their use, would that not upset you? I'd be all fire and brimstone lol.

I'll find the plugin...it's somewhere in my thousands of read-later-bookmarks... But, it had to do with finding other comments online as well and spinning them and using them as hellotxt, etc... bookmarks and updates... It was pretty badboy... But, yeah, if it was a real tweet, then I'd be rather upset. If it was a spammer spinner thing, then...ehh...lol... I've seen my ezinearticles all over the web with no attribution or live links... I use to fume about it...but it's the nature of the beast these dayz...

lol i would be miffed. But i suppose its also a lot of time and effort sending out DMCA's to people about copyright infringement etc. This is fascinating though, and mind boggling at the same time. I mean, ok it is to get more exposure out there, and the more "other people" are tweeting about your business, the better right? But don't you think there should be a line drawn somewhere? or are there good or bad reasons for doing something like this?
