I'm not using it, in fact I don't use any messenger or social network.
To stay in touch with my distance friends/family I use skype.

But I can see the usefulness of messenger.

I prefer email, but then I don't text on the cell phone, either.

Another similarity....no social networks for me as well. I used to have my multi-protocol instant messenger online, but lately I keep if off. It is too much of a distraction while I am trying to get some real work done. Mail is my preferred mode of communication - allows me to get it when I choose.
I also started to switch off my mobile whenever I don't need it (and as I found out that's often). You all ought to try it sometimes, it is so liberating.

I left mine in my truck when I had one. I am out of the cell phone business right now.

Funny you mention this, for few past years when I was working for the "company", mobile = stress, every time it rings I felt like someone pinched me
    I'm still recovering from this

Few years ago I had used Yahoo a lot ! for chatting, for email and for news. But now I use Gmail and skype more with Live messenger. I still have Yahoo messenger but don't stay logged in whole day like I was used.
