so noob question,what is offpage and onpage seo?

i been heard those term for quite some time but dont really understand what the different
from what i know it should be related to keyword optimize on your website,pls explain more clearly for me and for those who dont know

On page SEO is related to SEO on your website, like content, title tags, h1, h2 tags, image alts, keyword density, etc...
Off page SEO is related to things outside of your website, like backlinks, social bookmark, article marketing, directory submission, video promotion, blog posting, blog commenting, etc..

thank ok then i guess i a complete noob on on page seem i only most do off page in fact i guess most will only focus on on page but one page is as important i guess the only thing we can do on page is tagging as much as possible

First you need to do like ON page foundation and then you go to do the OFF page SEO, but only when you have done great job with the ON page SEO

Google see your website from top to bottom, it first start from URL, then meta tags then headings and so on. So important keywords should be on your website. This is called On-Page SEO.
Now what will happen if two website have same on-page factors, what happens Google looks for backlinks for your website so you have to create more number of quality links on relevant websites to your industry and region. This is called Off-page SEO.
