    Question Keyword density!

I was wondering if others who do search engine optimization for living have realized, as I have, that lowering your keyword density to 1.3 to 1.5 is yielding better results for first page websites that have dropped (5-6 positions not several pages) in SERP since the October Penguin update!

Keyword density is the percentage of the keywords in the content of the blog or article. Two to five percent of keyword density is the best for SEO.

Keyword density depends on the context. What information you are sharing can define the best suited keyword density. The results also vary accordingly. In fact after Panda and penguin update it is advisable to don't follow the hard rules of keyword density, rather follow the hybrid practices which can suits best to the current project.

Sometimes, Wordpress SEO by Yoast count my keywords density on 0.5% - 1.5% (5-6 keywords count by it)... even if I have in all that article over 10 keywords. What can I do in this situation? Why the rest of keywords doesn't counted by this plugin?

Including keywords in 1st or 2nd para is related to keyword proximity. Using keywords several times is not advisable because of penguin and panda updates of Google. Only 1% keyword density is enough for safe play.

Are you using exact match keywords or synonyms of it?

Panda deals with On Page or Overoptimizatoin. Penquin deals with anchor texts.

KW% in an article or on a page is not a function of some blueprint stating a percentage and following that percentage. It is niche dependent. If you want to know, then use a tool to determine the kw% of the top sites and you will have which % you need to align your site with. Of course, since you are in a particular niche already having determined its profitability, you should have at the very least 5 sites, plus web 2.0's, plus videos, plus, pdf's, plus images for the same kw set. Each site will use different parameters and different linking profiles. this will help the expert in the niche to determine which algo changes are rewarding which behaviors and punishing others.

Thanks for sharing with us what you have noticed and I have also experienced the same. Lowering of keyword density in any article or page to less than 2% can help to improve SERP.

Keyword density is the percentage of words on a web page that match a specified set of keywords. In the context of search engine optimization keyword density can be used as a factor in determining whether a web page is relevant to a specified keyword or keyword phrase. Due to the ease of managing keyword density, search engines usually implement other measures of relevancy to prevent unscrupulous webmasters from creating search spam through practices such as keyword stuffing.

I always keep keyword density less than 2%. I read really good tutorial about content and keyword density. If the keyword is not ultra high competitive one then you can see ranking and indexing with 48 hours.

I think 3 to 4 percent is ok, but if you use variations it would be great however never think about exact keywords usage because you need to write article or content for readers not for search engines therefore always think and write like a reader not a robot.

In the last few months, some of my sites with keyword density under 2% decreased in rankings. On the other hand the sites with 2-5 percent jumped a few spots.
