Domain name keyword density really effect on SEO?

Hi i think this kind of topic had been discussed before.. but i just can't find the good answer.. but nevermind.. this is something refresh back.. we all know that keyword density on domain name plays important roles on SEO.. lets make an example

Lets say i wanna rank for 'weight loss' keyword (this is just example).

So i wanna find the domain name related to the keyword. Unfortunately all the main keyword had been grab by other marketers.

So what do you suggest the best solution to grab the domain name so as to become close with the density of keyword?

is it ok for SEO if put just 1-2 unnecessary word/alphabet/numeric/hyphen just to make it close to density?

    such as..

    weightloss1 dot com/net/org
    abcweightloss dot com/net/org
    weight-loss-blog dot com/net/org
    weightlossx dot com/net/org
    weightlossinfo dot com/net/org

and.. other example that you can think more

    please give your opinion..

Probably the more competitive the niche the less important an EDM is going to be because you will need to promote any site heavily to get SERP position. I have seen IMs suggest that it is better to add something at the end of your phrase than at the beginning because this leaves your keyword more prominent in the domain name. There are mixed reactions to hyphenated domain names. They are easier for people to read and as long as the traffic comes from links they make no difference, but they make word of mouth promotion harder - where do you suppose FaceBook would be today if people had to say, "Check out my Face(dash)Book page"?

You should run any options that you think of through the Adwords traffic estimator to see if an available name has a clear advantage. I have a three word EDM that is in a niche related to my offline business that I bought long (in internet time) before I had any idea about SEO. The name seemed natural for me, but I have discovered that people search with those words in a different order about three times more frequently than the order I choose.

A trend that I see more experienced IMs embracing is to worry less about the Google SERP ranking. Put up a site with quality content that has the potential to be link bait and then go to where the people that may be interested in your offer are. Do blog commenting/guest posting, forum posting, social bookmarking and article marketing to attract targeted visitors. When you succeed the Google ranking will follow and those visitors will be gravy.

I got your point.. some people purchase the domain name so as to build 'brand name' rather than focus on SERP ranking or SEO.. all they care is to produce good quality content to readers.. but some people also purchase domain name exactly as google search term so as to drive in traffic as much as they want... i agreed.. the exact domain name is just added value to the site.. the most important thing is the quality content and good promotion

Just one advice, if you want to buy that domain for targeting keywords then drop the idea.

On the other hand, if that domain will help you in branding your website then go for it.

To cut the story short... Use your domain name for branding yourself not for keyword targeting. There are several other ways to target keywords.

If the exact keyword domains are not available, we can make these kinds of domains names as you mentioned above are good for SEO. but using the some words next or before to the domain name should be meaningful and its waste of adding 123, abc next to the domain names. it makes the users to think as untrustworthy sites. keyword in the domain name is recommended for healthy SEO.. But it would be better if those are not like including unwanted letter, numbers and all.

Keywords in Domain can be a disastrous for you with this new Google algo change. So I think it's better don't bother about EMDs anymore unless you plan to do extensive development on site.

in my case the keyword based domains work, you can use your brand or company name with keyword in domain to get branding and keyword popularity. like "your company/brand name + keyword . com"

Only keyword rich domain name might not be good idea after Google rolled out EMD update. I would mix keyword plus something. I guess it is the best option now.

Agree with joel.gasket, google recent update has penalized some sites with keyword domain name. So I think it will be wise to avoid using keyword on domain name.

In one of the older Matt Cutts videos he talks about EMDs and domain names. He asks the questions: What's a Google, What's a Yahoo? There are very successful 'www(dot)google(dot)com and www(dot)yahoo(dot)com domains. So how important are EMDs, really? He was saying that it's the content that matters.
