I don't think you can really find a niche you're interested in that has HIGH searches and LOW competition... You'll have competition everywhere. What you need to do is actually make your website the best one out there. But that's only if you're interested in being the leading supplier on the organic traffic side. If you have a list of people or a massive fan base, you're practically set and you can just continue to advertise to them. However, if you want t broaden your traffic range then onpage/offpage seo would be the best thing to do.
