Single word or two words are good for general traffic, but no good for conversion. Example

1. SEO - it can be refer to seo tutorial or seo service, or other thing
2. SEO Company, it can be refer to worldwide seo company
3. SEO Company Malaysia - it only refer SEO company in Malaysia
4. SEO Company kuala lumpur malaysia - This query is targeted to niche result, so the chances of conversion is high.

Long tail keywords should be easier to rank since there are much less competition, but in the end all depends on your analysis on the keyword traffic and top 10 competition. As soons as you practice it you'll find better keywords.
