BuddyPress - Good idea to link a social network and forum to your blog?

I know this is about blogs and all that, but, buddypress gives you the ability to create a "social network" and forum centered around your wordpress blog. Many that use their WP installation as a site might have a few advantages, but I was thinking about this.

Would it be a good idea to have your own little social network on your blog, and then back it up with a forum? Would it be a good way to either advertise or market your blog/site, by allowing people in your specific niche to network?

I am open to suggestions.

I think it's good idea to have own small social network. But I think you need at least 500-1000 peoples group who will visit your site. Google love returning visitors and long time on site.

That is what I am hoping for, but for now, the blog is newly moved, and its going to take a lot to get it off the ground, but thinking about it more, I can see where the potential is, there's just so much I could really do with it. If I can get that amount of traffic, then it would be a success. I have a long road ahead of me. lol

Sure it is great, but it would be effective only if person has bigger number of visitors...

That will have to be worked on. lol I just need to find some extra time, so, if anyone knows how to get about 56 hours in a day, let me know.
