Where many people would say that, I believe it to be wrong. If you look at all the videos he has created about all the questions people have asked him, you can see that it make sense and he is not trying to trick you. He is giving you guidelines you could use to boost your site rank without getting yourself or your site banned etc.

It is not easy to support a search engine without any proof. Google has reached popularity even among uneducated persons and they may not even know the processes.What they say is that their website should come in the first 2 pages of Google not even they say SEO,or SMO. Role of search engines is to provide quality content for the users.Search engines are committed to the users globally.They have to change their algorithms to combat black hat practices.

I also have seen some videos. There is nothing like promoting a particular one and not the other.

Matt Cutts is the only way we can even grasp what Google thinks. I'll take him over just trying to mind read Google.

For me, linking to a big sites, like facebook and twitter helps you get your sites on high rankings. It give good reputations and gives you backlinks as well.
