What would you actually prefer for your online efforts ?

We all know there are many ways to build up something online to make money with. We also know that lots of internet marketers are putting a lot of effort into their online activities and don't even make more than a few bucks in months...or in many cases not a single dime ever.

In my experience there's 2 ways basically to get anywhere near successful online:
    - Go with the flow, believe every new hot marketing method and work your arse off for ever doing the necessary SEO and posting and hope for the best, or...
    - Build a solid foundation for your online business (which would require completely different knowledge and approach than what you'd need for the typical internet marketing thing), develop your business blueprint to ensure success in the future and only work hard for just a few months and then slowly break free from your business.

Most "internet marketers" don't even know the second option is actually possible and doable, but immediately believe what the "gurus" tell them and all the fancy salespages claiming that "their push button solution" will make them rich in no time (and mostly these are about some article/posts submission crap and basic SEO).

I'm already pretty sure about the outcome of this poll and this will hopefully make a lot of IMTalk members think about the fact if what they've been doing actually brought them anywhere near where they want to be.

    where be the poll?

Believing in the hype, is not one of my strong points. I don't follow blindly, I follow intelligently. If I know something seems too good to be true, I steer clear. IM is a lot of hard work, especially in the beginning, but then when its all set up and all your hard work starts bringing in clients, you can then get someone to help you you, and even expand. Which is what everyone wants for their business. You can't really do this is you follow a quick fix solution.

i still remember at my early stage of entering the IM industry, as your answer said "I don't know what to believe or where to start...I have a lot to learn." i even burn money to buy crap ebook and also attend courses. now it is been nearly 2 year now from the day i start to learn IM, knowledge is already set into my mind, the only thing i need to is to build plan based on real strategies

What I've found is that many starting IM'ers are overwhelmed by all the information and different ways to do things or make some money online. I can imagine this and I've been in the same phase, but perhaps I was lucky with a head start, working together with a friend who already had 11 years of experience in this business.

What people don't realize is that everyone can create a successful online business, regardless of background or education, as long as you do thorough research in different markets. Of course there's some basic knowledge necessary to make sure you're off on the right start, instead of starting some random affiliate marketing or throwing up websites that will never attract any (targeted) visitors. You need a plan for a solid business and goals on which you base your strategies for your specific market. There are no secrets, there's no "make me rick with 3 clicks" software, there's no push button solution out there that actually works. You'll need to do it all yourself and stay away from the hype.

I'm not going to boast my product or offer, but I've decided to provide the right information for every entrepreneur who wants to achieve something online in these difficult times. There's no need to pay thousands of dollars for seminars or coaching programs, and even those don't give you the full monty. It's a petty that so many never made a dolar online, because they're pulled into the hype or at least the wrong direction in this industry. And that's exactly why so many don't know what to believe anymore.

    There is a way !

I've done it, I've helped a lot of my customers who are using the exact same strategies and some of the respected members here can confirm that it is indeed possible with the right attitude and mindset. And of course a lot of hard work...at least for a few months.

So for those who "don't know what to believe"...don't worry and don't let all the crap in your inbox drive you nuts. If you're experiencing information overload...then make a decision. You're in control of your acts and I'd recommend to stop taking in all that information. Unsubscribe from all newsletter filling your inbox with offers and subscribe to newsletters of established online entrepreneurs. The best and most credible newsletter are usually those who send you information once a week or even less...not the ones who send you offers all the time. They just want to rip you off and they know they're promoting a lot of crap (with a handful good products here and there...).

And remember...SEO is not the same as Internet Marketing. It's merely a small part of a much bigger thing.

I have selected option 2 and you know why it is so

After over full time in this IM world for a year, now I do not go after all things. At least for SEO point of view, i have clear cut and focused strategies that are doing magic for me. So I will prefer to go slow but ultimately wins the race

Can you answer that question for yourself ?

In my opinon this is a very unrealistic question they also ask you in every job interview...BAH !
In fact, it's a question that tells me with every jobinterview I had that they actually have no clue what to ask.
In 5 years I see myself happy with my family, no matter what. Careerwise I wouldn't know, coz I don't know what will cross my path.

No one knows what will happen, in any business, anywhere. You can't plan ahead that far...not even a little bit.

Adapt to whatever comes and especially in this business that's key. However, strategies are timeless and can always be used and changed to fit the developments.

I am the bottom one, not sure what I want, although my drive is my passion, I want to offer a unique service which is different to all people on this board and more IM boards I have visited in the past but at the end of the day if I can help people thats my effort rewarded, no amount of money or sales will change that, good feedback about my website is what is making me tick even though I do have a lot of learning to go.

    We're slowly going off-topic...
Let's keep it where it was intended to go and give others a chance to respond.

I'm really curious where people are standing with their online efforts.

After years of chasing the next new shiny object, I've realized that you can't buy the solution, you have to build a solid foundation using both short-term and long-term strategies. Chasing the masses may produce some fruitful leads, but the first thing you need to do when you start helping someone to build a business is get them to realize that it will take time, effort and some money to be successful. And you need to work with them closely - this is a relationship business above all else.

A change in mindset is certainly required, because most of these have not operated a business before, and have seen all the hype about how you can make a million dollars in a month by just pushing a few buttons. We know that's not true now, but I'll bet there was a time when we thought that way as well.

I agree completely with Econtinue's strategy of getting off all the lists you're on. I only subscribe to one or 2 lists now, because these people give regular useful information and are not just pitching the latest new product all the time. I actually learn something from them. You have to learn to be laser focused, and not get distracted by 'shiny new objects'. The only products I look at now are things that will automate promotional tasks that I am already doing. But I recommend you learn how to do those tasks manually first - that's how you will really learn how promotion is done.
