Saying to me "Please create a free account or login to shorten URLs." Have to create an account.
I can tell you that a lot of people that want a shorturl wont want to sign up to have to.
They want a short link quick with no hassle. And no trace of user. Maybe you can make registration optional.

The point of registering an account is that you can track and organize your links. You can see how your links are doing, where people are coming from who are clicking on them. There are also a lot of other features registered users can take advantages of.

It is also possible to log in with your gmail account so you won't even have to create a new registration. If that's too much of a hassle then you are more than welcome to go elsewhere.

Alright mate don't throw your dummy out the pram its called "constructive criticism".
If you don't like it don't post your site for review.
Your site is pointless. Registration should be an option not mandatory for a url shortening site!

If that's what you call "constructive criticism" then maybe we have different ideas about the meaning of the word "constructive".

It is pointless! NOBODY wants to HAVE to register to use a link shortening service!

You are presuming everybody has a Google account. Even if they did, why wouldn't they just use goo.gl or bit.ly?
People have NEVER wanted to have to create an account to create a short url.
Short url sites should be free and quickly accessible. People dont want to mess around with all that malarky just to shorten a URL.
Also people also like privacy and don't want to give their email address to shorten a URL.

NOBODY is going to use your site so long as you require registration first.

If you don't like what people say about your site then don't post asking for peoples reviews/opinions/comments.
And you need to learn to a bit more thick skinned as well and not just tell people to go elsewhere because you don't like the truth.
I thought it would be a bitter pill for you to swallow. You can candy coat BS as much as you want but its still BS at the end of the day.

And you know this because????? Maybe try playing lottery...

You may be surprised how many people have gmail account.

I respect your opinion, you have the rights to that, but when you say things like "pointless" and such, that's exactly just YOUR opinion and it's far from being "constructive". Anyway, I'll leave this deabate 'cause it IS "pointless"

Well the lottery is gambling and I don't gamble. I take educated risks all the time but I don't gamble.
You have more chance of getting some brain from the queen that you have winning the lottery jackpot.
But I know this because Ive used link shortener's since their first days on the net. The very first link shortener was TinyURL which launched in 2002.
It was TinyURL that paved the way for hundreds of other link shortening services. Twitter quickly followed suit but only used to use the Bit.ly engine but now use t.co instead.
goo.gl has been going since 2009 and they've never required registration. It even analytics and a QR code generator but that does require an account.
Yet millions of people use it every day without a Google account. If registration was a requirement that number wouldn't even be half. There's some food for thought for you..

One last thing to note, URL shorteners have been used by spammers for as long as they have been around for illicit Internet activities.
As a result, many have been removed from online registries or shut down completely by web hosts or Internet service providers.

In short (excuse the pun) link shortener's are nothing new and you need to come at it with a new angle if you want your site to be a success.
I'm telling you now, requiring registration to shorten a URL is NOT going to do you any favors in the long run.. People will just go elsewhere.
Where as, make it free (no reg required) and people will use it and share it with their friends.

John: Oh by the way, here's a new URL shortening service.
Pete: Oh I don't use that one because it requires registration first...
    John: Yeah I understand.

I am also feeling the same that link shortener is something that people need to use on the go and very fast without any hassle. But maybe you may have experimented and researched in a better way than mine.
