I'm using Avast, the free version.
Never have any problems and removes everything.

Also run Spybot Search & Destroy tool for malware and spyware.

You should be fine after that.

This is interesting. AVG should have notified you immediately of any suspicious activity. As would any antivirus actually. As soon as you install software and the suspicious file executes, AVG marks it and asks you if you want to remove the suspicious file to the virus vault. AVG monitors system processes as well (the latest version does this, I have it on my desktop), so it catches a lot of viruses before they even get off the mark. Seeing that its recognized viruses on your PC, it should have done this at install and not afterwards. Avast does the same thing, I have this on my laptop and so far nothing has gotten past it.

    Edit:

I have asked for a lit of the offending software so that I can check and remove if I find any suspicious software.

I too am using NOD32 its really good and not had any issues so far. I too have used AVG and Norton, some malicious software attacked Norton and it crashed then I switched to AVG it was good but got too many prompts then NOD32 came in and its great. I use NOD32 in the office and McAfee at home, both are really great.

I think you are using an unregistered version that's not being updated.

I had the same problem. Try an anti spy ware. And be careful when downloading. Not everyone has good intentions. You get a free stuff and a lot of free viruses as a bonus!
