Piwik is better for live stats. I think using GA for reporting and Piwik for live stats is a good compromise. but I am surprised that a lot of people dont know about it. It is very powerful and poplar, at least in my circle of friends. Many people use statcounter.com also..

I use WP Stat from Jetpack (wordpress plug-in) and you can search it directly through WordPress plug-in library. However, Google Analytics still the most complete one. I use WP-Stat just for cross-checking purpose.
