Your suggestions on the best web hosting design

What is your suggestions if I want to host a web site where people can upload and download files?
Files are not multimedia but could be as large as 2 gigs.
should I be using iis+mysql+php?

Whatever you do, stay far away from GoDaddy and Media Temple.

i don't know if cirtexhosting can fit for your need. but i think you should contact the provider. I think many Shared Hosting will reject your Quote

I don't think there is enough information to make a recommendation.

For simple storage you don't really need to dump the files into a database. Uploading and downloading files can be handled without a database.

I understand that there are some limitations to the implementation of php on Windows servers. If the features that you need are available it should be OK.

I agree that this application is probably out of the shared hosting area. You probably will need VPS or dedicated hosting, particularly if you use a database for the storage. Check the TOS carefully for the real limits to unlimited shared hosting. With VPS or dedicated hosting there is usually metered bandwidth, so you need to think about your business model.

can you tell me why godaddy sucks? i bought domain from go daddy.. where you bought your domain? namecheap?
