    Your Hosting usage ?

What type of web hosting you are using ? Free ? shared ? VPS or already using a dedicated server ? Also how much do you pay for a month for your total hosting bill ?

I use everything except Dedicated servers and spend around $100 per month for all my web hosting accounts.

VPS is the only way to go when you get the traffic, Shared hosting is known to be oversold and go down frequently because of one website

VPS is good if you have huge amount of traffic or need lots of resources for running things like Forums. But too pricey. Also you need to know lot about servers and Linux of you have to pay a lot for a managed solution.

VPS = Virtual Private Server is software simulated dedicated/standalone server, you can have many VPS on one computer(box)
Shared webhosting = it is most probably your hosting, there are many accounts sharing same server resources
Dedicated server = it is standalone server, one computer (box) is one server

Thanks nemanja for the details explanation, now i understand. So what is the most widely used? Then, when do a link building campaign, which one give valueable link? For example, there are 3 links, first link from VPS, second link from shared webhosting and third link from dedicated server, between among of the links, which links give more valueable and have effects to link building campaign

The best would be from most trusted and authority website/domain out there.

Each server have their own unique IP Address. So Google can find out if you inter links sites in same hosting account or server. If you have several sites which you want to connect then the best way is host them in couple of different hosting accounts belongs to different hosting providers.

This is why I still use Free hosting and shared hosting accounts even when I have 3 VPS which has resources more than 3 times my sites need.

Yes that is right, but class C IP diversity is a good thing in SEO if you have great number of links.

Just keep the basic in mind. Search engines don't like inter linking of sites to manipulate search result. Like if some of makes 100 related sites and link all to one site so it can rank top at result. One easy way for Google to find this is checking IP address. if all sites are from same IP it means probably all sites are hosted in a single hosting account belongs to one owner.

Now if you have 10 sites and you host them in different hosting providers then it's difficult for Google to find out if all sites belongs to same person. Now I don't know if we should call this black hat or white hat but this is what majority of web masters do IMO.

Different A and B IP classes are even better, but they are harder to get and more expensive...

serverpronto and colopronto aren't bad. They had some bad "cancellation" policies. But overall I've used them for a long time.

Colopronto is great, if you don't mind shipping off hardware. 1U used servers are pretty cheap, 99% of people don't need much hardware. Or get a 2U chasis and build your own! Their dedicated server cost is $329/month for this setup: Phenom 64 X4 9850, 8GB RAM, 2TB HDD SATA2. You could build this and put it in a 2U box for probably $400? Colo cost would be $40/month.

I am nearing a file count limit that my hosting company keeps in the fine print, so I will need to do something about hosting soon. I am beginning to look at my options. Is there a good server admin forum that someone would recommend?
