advantage of third level domains?

Hi people,

just a quick question... I am playing a bit with international domains. Does anybody have experience with that? There was a note from a hoster who offers Hungarian domains. Something like

"Apart from the .hu domain, we also offer .co.hu domains. This ending is particularly interesting for your SEO. "

This is the first time I hear that there is an actual advantage of going a level up. Up to now I tried to avoid third level domains because I feel they take more effort to type in, take longer to pronounce and look a bit ugly...

Anybody has experience on that?

Opinion only: I think that the only time there may be an advantage would be in instances of localization. There are many UK businesses that use a .co.uk domain, but if you are not looking for localization and you can find a suitable domain name one of the three top level domain names would be better.

.com is the best.... :P
