You can easily run into copyright infringement problems. There are many sites that offer free images that you can use without problems.

You can find yourself receive a large invoice from someone because of copyright infringement.
Once company (getty images), is famous for tracking down their images and for actually billing people.
Purchase yourself some stock photo sets ... lots of them available for reasonable prices.
For free images, I mention that use <img src='http:\\jdkkkd from other site. This may effect for my SERP?
Aside from the real risk of copyright infringement:
A) Unless this is from a photo sharing site and this type of usage is within their TOS it is grossly impolite to steel someone elses bandwidth each time your page is loaded.
B) There is the additional risk that the other site will move or delete the image breaking your page. The owner may also prevent deep linking to the images if they notice the bandwidth drain.
C) The browser must make a call to the other server and there is the possibility that it will slow down your page loading speed.
Images that you use should be resized to the size you will display them and hosted on your server in your website root directory or an 'images' sub-directory.

hi Gill,
i personally don't do it for my website because you may fall into a copyright act which may be problematic for you to handle and the second reason being that
if the website allows you to link pictures from their website then you will have to rely on their server & if by chance their server goes down then you will also fall into problem.
try to avoid it. it's the safest.
kindest,
abhishek kundu

I have to agree with the above posters and would like to add that it i also dangerous to do so. Being you have no control over the actual picture. Meaning that if the linked picture lets just say for example is a apple everything is fine say for a week or so then the site the pict came from says gets hacked and all the apples are turned into obscene related pictures. You would face the possibility of getting banned by Google or any other affiliate co for violating there tos. I know this may seem far fetched to some but it can and does happen. Moral of story don't link to others pictures host them yourself get the rights or use public domain pictures.
